I'm currently in the process of evaluating this NL502 touchscreen controller and if all goes well (and so far it is) the TC420 will finally be phased out entirely. I'm also working with the TC421 and it's been working better than most of the TC420s I still have in stock, but I still see some of the random "mode swtiching" issue that came to plague the TC420; requiring that I change to only loading up one program mode at a time on a TC420.
